Come to celebrate the Year of the Dragon in Phuket. You’ll find celebrations and cultural events across the island especially in the heart of Phuket’s Old Town and at local Chinese Shrines. The Dragon is the fifth sign of the Chinese Zodiac, which consists of 12 animal signs. Though Chinese New Year is not an official public holiday in Thailand, most businesses owned by Thais with Chinese ancestors are closed during the period.
